TRAINING INFORMATION

DSDC is very well endowed with Instructors etc and can
teach nearly every aspect of diving including tri-mix
stuff.
There are two ways to get diving in Dubai - either go
and do a crash course in the basics before diving with us
or come to the club and see when the next BSAC Ocean Diver
Course is being run.
Once you are diving there is a whole list of stuff you
can do. Being a BSAC club our 'standard progression' is
OCEAN DIVER,
SPORTS DIVER
DIVE LEADER
ADVANCED DIVER
go to www.bsac.com
for details
On top of this there are all sorts of Skill Development
Courses you can do, depending on your particular interest,
and a whole range of instructor courses.
We don't run commercial courses but there are charges
to our members who partake in courses to cover the costs
of training materials etc.
Once you have a basic course you will now find (since
2009) that you are pushed on towards the Sports Diver
Course very quickly. DSDC sees this level of qualification
as a minimum requirement due to the depths that the club
members regularly dive to. Due to the construction work in
the UAE it is very difficult to find quality dive sites at
less than 20 metres and due to this poor quality not much
shallow diving is done(in the Arabian Gulf). Therefore,
members who are Ocean Divers and Padi Open Water Divers
will find that their opportunities to join trips are very
restricted.
Because Instruction is done mostly for free we ask
students to be very conscious of this at all times to
avoid offence being caused.
This is a table to compare BSAC qualification with
other agencies.

PLEASE NOTE
This is a diving club and not a training school.
Many people don't really understand what a diving club
is. Just to reinforce we are a sports club run by the
members for the members. We don't have any employees and
as such if you want to join us you will have to contribute
to the running of the club. We find different people are
good at different things so for example if you are
mechanically minded you would be expected to help look
after the boats, if you are an accountant you would be
asked to help with the finances. Even if you don't think
you have any skills or are useless at everything - don't
worry we have plenty of jobs for you as well. Every one is expected to
do something.
