MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
A CLUB FOR ALL DIVERS
We welcome divers from all training agencies to join us and although we are a BSAC club we have many PADI and TDI divers too. If you’re only in the UAE for a short time you can even dive with us as a guest.
PLEASE NOTE HOWEVER WE CANNOT CATER FOR YOU IF YOU ARE
ON HOLIDAY - see "holiday
information" if this is you.
Our diving covers everything from wrecks to reefs from 5m to 120m
(see further comments below) – we’re spoilt for choice and run dives every weekend of the year. Because we’re a club we don’t charge commercial rates and we can do the diving that appeals to us – and hopefully you.
Come to the club on Monday or Wednesday evening and meet the gang – we’re all friendly and willing to show you around. Sometimes it can appear a bit daunting at first so when you arrive make sure you tell the first person you see that you are new and visiting - they will then introduce you to the relevant people.
The committee members are often to be found in the Clubhouse on Monday evening and will be happy to discuss diving with you.
Many people don't really understand what a diving club
is. Just to reinforce we are a sports club run by the
members for the members. We don't have any employees and
as such if you want to join us you will have to contribute
to the running of the club. We find different people are
good at different things so for example if you are
mechanically minded you would be expected to help look
after the boats, if you are an accountant you would be
asked to help with the finances. Every one is expected to
do something.
MEMBERSHIP (Membership
Fees)
Club membership is AED 1650 for Gold membership as of
July 2009 which entitles you to unlimited free dives on club boats
air and Nitrox.
Silver membership costs AED 850 as of July 2009 and then AED 30 per dive on club boats.
Guests pay AED 75 per dive – come and give us a try.
Members get free air refills using the club compressor and
since July 2009 your membership fee includes as many Nitrox fills as you need if you’re qualified to use it.
We have three boats available, two on the west coast (mostly wreck diving) and one on the east (wrecks & reefs).
These boats are out on the water most Fridays, Saturdays
and public holidays.
Dives on rented boats cost more but only what we pay ourselves – we’re not going to overcharge our divers.
A day-long dhow trip to the Musandam costs AED 200 for members and AED 300 for guests. You won’t get Musandam diving that cheap anywhere else.
In regard to Training please see the attached
comparison sheet as we are constantly being asked
about this matter
What’s the drawback?
We don’t supply equipment, food or a pampered dive service. We’re a dive club and we dive for fun – if you want diving with massage service or a manicure then pay more and go with the commercial operators. We think our diving is more appealing though.
A complete range of dive equipment is available to rent from the excellent Scuba Dubai (we have no commercial links to this shop).
We are a BSAC members diving club and not a commercial
operation / holiday destination. The dives that we provide
are for members and guests only and are subscribed
to by coming to the club on Monday evenings and physically
signing up for the dives.

information page.

DIVE SITES
Dive sites in the UAE and surrounding region are diverse and fantastic.
We have a variety of wrecks in the warm waters of the Gulf from the 5m deep Cement Barge
(see comments above) to the 85m Energy Determination. The wrecks have a wealth of marine life from Barracuda to Bat Fish and the penetration on some of these sunken ships is excellent for those qualified to do so.
The reefs in the region are also abundantly stocked with a huge selection of creatures from Devil Rays to Lion Fish. There are gentle, easy to dive reefs like Martini Rock as well as the more challenging dives in the Northern Musandam, such as Katchaloo – not for the faint hearted.
There’s something for almost every diver and we dive every weekend – why not, the weather’s great!
